MALVERN, AR – The U.S. Chamber of Commerce recognized Rep. Bruce Westerman with its Advocate for American Business Award during a stop on the Free Enterprise Express Opportunity Tour in Malvern, Arkansas, highlighting his support for policies that promote economic growth, job creation, and opportunity for Arkansas businesses and workers.

Rep. Westerman also joined U.S. Chamber of Commerce Senior Vice President of Policy Jonathan Burks, Anthony Timberlands Vice President of Pine Production Jim Jones, Malvern/Hot Spring County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lance Howell, and Arkansas State Rep. Rick McClure for a visit to Anthony Timberlands' Malvern mill. Founded in 1907, the family-owned and operated company employs approximately 150 workers at the facility and operates eight mills across Arkansas.

“Bruce Westerman has earned the U.S. Chamber’s Advocate for American Business Award for his consistent support for policies that strengthen America’s free enterprise system and help businesses grow,” said Jonathan Burks, Senior Vice President of Policy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “During our visit to Anthony Timberlands, we discussed the importance of Arkansas’ forestry industry and the role it plays in communities across the state. Bruce has been a strong advocate for the employers and industries that drive Arkansas’ economy, and that leadership has earned him this recognition."

The national Free Enterprise Express Opportunity Tour is a six-week trip through 20 states and more than 50 events to make the case for free enterprise in communities across America and push back against growing support for government-directed economic policies that threaten economic freedom, opportunity, innovation, and growth.

The effort is part of a broader Chamber initiative, the New Fight for Free Enterprise, a multi-year effort to organize, mobilize, and make the case for free enterprise everywhere public opinion is shaped, public policy is made, and future generations learn what it takes for people and communities to thrive.
